Geoff Predella, Vice Chair of CMRMC, has over 25 years of international experience in business, government, non-profits and higher education. His work reflects a commitment to enhancing organizational capacity, strategic analysis, community building, leadership and innovation.

He is Chair of the Ethics Committee, Genome Alberta, Chair of the Governance and Nominations Committee, Kids’ Brain Health Network, and Trustee of the Small Change Big Changes Endowment, Calgary Health Trust.

Geoff is a classically trained pianist and life-long chorister, whose favourite music is … well … music – from classical to present day.

Devan Cook, Treasurer of CMRMC, is both a CPA and CGA and is a Calgary businessman in the real estate and finance sector.  He founded a multi-family residential apartment building company 20 years ago and has made a variety of other investments over the years.

Devan has actively volunteered in the community and is the Past President of Plan Calgary, an organization that facilitates social networks for adults with developmental disabilities.

He has a passion for music and culture, and as a lifelong Calgarian, has dedicated his time and talents to a broad range of community initiatives and volunteer projects focused on making the city an even more vibrant, dynamic and exciting place to live, work and raise a family.

Patrick Johnston brings expertise in architecture, construction, education and music to the team.

Following his studies in Sociology at the University of Calgary, Patrick enrolled in the University of Manitoba’s Master of Architecture program. Earning a fellowship and travel scholarship, Patrick completed a portion of his studies at Kyonggi University’s Graduate School of Architecture in Seoul, South Korea and completed field research in London and Berlin for his thesis work.

Upon completion of his studies, Patrick returned home to Calgary to spend more than a decade developing design solutions for multi-family, mixed-use, community recreation and large-scale healthcare projects. Patrick would later transition his career into Construction Management, coordinating performance driven aviation-based infrastructure projects.

Now as an educator, Patrick splits his time teaching an array of subjects from design, history and building science while serving as a leading contributor to SAIT’s Architectural Technologies program redevelopment and pedagogical transition to project-based learning. This work now informs regular guest speaking and conference appearances.

Musically, Patrick is an accomplished DJ of more than 25 years, achieving competitive recognition from some of the world’s most successful and recognized talents in underground dance and electronic music. Like a spectrum of paint on a painter’s palette, recorded music is the DJs starting point and, in every case, the recording is a primary means of inspiring casual listeners, enthusiasts and young artists dreaming of platinum. As contemporary formats and listening platforms push music into the ethereal realm, providing tangible experiences through a physical community-oriented space is both a cultural opportunity and responsibility.

Sally Mansour has been in the not-for-profit sector for over 15 years. Her specializations in working as an executive or consultant include business development, governance, revenue generation, government relations, marketing and communications, and fundraising. Sally joined the board having served prior as an experienced volunteer board director and as an advisor to many of Calgary’s charitable organizations, including the arts and culture sector.

Daughter to a musician, sister and aunt to gifted musicians, and mother to a budding one, Sally carries the tradition in her family and has also been one since the age of six. She refers to music as her ‘heart beat’ (and she isn’t kidding – she and her husband even named their kid and dog after music artists!). With music, Canada, volunteerism, and community building close to her heart, she enjoys the opportunity to work with the CRMRC team as a member of our Board, helping us to reach the organization’s immediate and long-term goals.

“Music transcends space, regions, time, generations, and cultures – it connects us in a way nothing else in this world can. Recorded music helps make that all possible! Celebrating and leveraging Canada’s massive global role in music production is such an exciting opportunity for our nation. CMRMC will be for musicians, artists, sound engineers, historians, anthropologists, healers, educators, marketers, producers, athletes, drivers, and so many more – they will all find CMRMC a place of fascination, connection and inspiration. It will also be inclusive, accessible and engaging for all ages, regions of residence, abilities, interests, and cultural and financial backgrounds. And the time is now – it will build on the arts and culture scene growing rapidly in Calgary, open to all locals and tourists. It will be for everyone!”

Ken King brings a wealth of experience from the private, post-secondary education, university sport, and not-for-profit sectors to the board. As he continues to both lead and learn in these diverse areas, Ken focuses on measuring human experience with artificial intelligence in his current company. He has a background in high-performance corporate leadership, high-performance sport, group culture, fundraising, strategy, and volunteer organization. Ken’s current projects include his technology startup Boost Innovation, contributing to the community through his participation on volunteer boards, and building new methods of measuring diversity of inclusion with technology.

Ken’s relationship with music is deeply rooted in family and friends. When he was young, his parents gave him his first drum kit for Christmas, and he proceeded to learn the craft from his dad (who also plays). He’s played in jazz, classical, and punk rock bands, and still has an electronic kit here in Calgary. Now, living across the country, from his family (located in Sudbury, Ontario) music is a connection to those he can’t see regularly. In his house, there’s often songs on that make him feel closer to dad, mom, his sister, or his friends.

For me, CMRMC is all about that ability to connect to those you’re with, far from, or won’t ever see again. I hear a song and I’m back with my dad at the cottage in Northern Ontario, laughing with my sister as kids, hearing my mom singing on road trips, getting into trouble with friends in high school, or watching Blue Jays games as a kid with Grandma. To build something that gives people that ability to show up and have a unique experience each time, providing whatever connection they need that particular day, is really special. I can’t wait for the world to see and feel this unique experience.
